Amanda Bossard graduated from high school in 1992. She then began an education in marine science at Alaska Pacific University, Anchorage. Bossard's journey to professional success began in 1999 with a job aboard the F/V Sunset. The 65-foot vessel, which was a halibut fishing vessel, was transformed into a tender for salmon by Murat Ariatn. He has been commercial fishing for over 20 years. Bossard was married to Aritan in 1999, and the couple have teamed up in fighting for their company. They are both in favor of conservative and profitable management of sustainable seafood resources. Otolith is an independent wholesale distributor of seafood that was started in Philadelphia in 2007 by a now-mother of two kids, Bella aged 3, and Andre aged 1. Bossard in 2007, a mother of two children Bella age 3 and Andre 1, and returning to Philadelphia from her home in Canada opened otolith as a direct market wholesale seafood distributor. Bossard's children Isabella, age 12, and son Andre 10 visit each year to Southeast Alaska to work in the deckhand position in the wild salmon season. With a small 42 troller they are able to catch salmon by hooks. Then they work alongside Aritan at a local processing plant for a couple of weeks.
